Van Gogh would loved this place. In September and October wetlands of Argentinian Plata estuary coast are covered in yellow: iris (Iris pseudacorus). The steeple lily has developed and occupies kilometers, length approximately 35 km of coastline 3-10 km wide floodplains, accompanying the marginal jungle. True, it is an invasive specie and moves to different native grasses, sedges and other species, but I get excited about its beauty. Extraño visitante (Mirounga leonina)

Imagen
It happened a week ago in the northern end of the bay Sanborombón in Punta Piedras. The estuary of the River Plate opened and it entered without knocking. A young elephant seal (southern pininípedo) 3 meters in length and 600 kilos of weight, typical of the southern sea areas off , came to explore "the Pampas" What a shock for cows ....! They would be very confused: What is this strange doing here? 35° 27´S  56° 45´W

Calbuco vulcano

Imagen
It is incredible but, the soil of the pampas keeps track of various volcanic eruptions that occurred 100 years ago. In the depth of soil layers, there are 2-5 cm of thick for several kilometers of horizontal development of ash and volcanic glass. Today, our short life leaves us witness this phenomenon. The Calbuco Volcano in Chile is active. It erupted twice in April, sending a cloud of ash that traveled 200 kilometers to settle in Buenos Aires and its surroundings: the pampas; just like 100 years ago ...

Swallows (Phaeoprogne tapera)

Imagen
It is autumn time and they again went to live his eternal summer. They are the swallows that fly 10-12000 kilometers linking North America and South America.  Fourteen  species of them reach Argentina. The brown swallow (Phaeoprogne tapera) flies from the state of : California, USA to the provinces of  : Corrientes and Buenos Aires in Argentina; from the cities of San Juan Capistrano to the cities of Goya and Sierra de la Ventana. The swallows arrive at their destination in spring and men of all cultures and times are sensitized with at manifestations of nature. The brown swallows come in bright and noisy flocks. The natives, janeños, in the northern hemisphere called them "spirits of the air" and  the South native called in mapuche language  "pilmayquen" the bloom bird. Currently, in the different cities the migrate arrival is celebrated. In San Juan Capistrano the celebration is  on 19 March. I think that, the fox (Guy Williams) was also a swallow ...
