T he names are lost in the swirl of time, and in a vast nearly untouched pampa ...  The name :  Shells appears in property  titles to the area near the stream since late 1700. Historians say  that the origin of the name is due to the abundance of shells in the area and also the exploitation of them for use as calcium oxide. But, today there is no trace of these shells, nor abandoned quarries where excavations were made.  However, there is an important fact to consider, in clean waterways of the Rio de la Plata are bivalves. These freshwater bivalves live buried in the mud and leave their shells to die. Perhaps there were  existed in other  time in this area, and giving rise to the name Shells.
